i) Living things- It includes plants, animals and human beings.

ii) Non-living things- Things other than living things such as air, water,

soil, etc. are included in non-living things.

Pollution can be defined as the presence of unwanted substances in the

environment which are harmful for living beings.

The harmful substances found in air, water or land are known as

pollutants.

Pollution is mainly of three types.

They are-

• air pollution

• water pollution

• land pollution
