NOTES:

WEATHER: Weather is a state of atmosphere of a place at a particular time. Earth’s revolution
causes change in weather. The varying amount of sunlight that Earth receives also causes change in
weather. The rays of the sun heat the land, air and water differently.

               Land:

                   • The region receiving more sunlight is warm and the region receiving less sunlight is cool. This

affects the temperature of that region.

                   • Similarly, the amount of sunlight received during the afternoon is much more as compared to
the mornings and evenings. So the mornings and evenings are cooler than afternoons.

               Wind:
                   • Sunlight causes the winds to blow.

                   • The process of formation of wind happens when air is heated by sunlight.

                   • The warm air is lighter and rises up. Cool air rushes in to take the place of the rising warm air.
                   • This process continues and forms winds.

               Water:

                   • Air contains water vapour. Humidity is the amount of water vapour present in air.
                   • As the warm air rises up it takes the water vapour with it. These water vapour forms the cloud.

                   • Cool water vapour condenses and forms water droplets . These water droplets become heavy

                       and fall down as rain.
                   • In extreme cold regions water droplets fall down in the form of snow.
