P. 2
NOTES:
1. SUN: It is the main source of energy. All living beings need this solar energy
to survive.
2. WIND: A windmill uses the force of moving air to generate electricity and
draw underground water. There are large windmill farms that supply power to
entire village.
3. WATER: Water flowing through a dam, river or waterfall provides energy to
generate electricity. This energy is known as HYDEL ENERGY.
4. FOSSIL FUELS: Most of the energy we use comes from fossil fuels, such as
coal, natural gas and petroleum. When we burn wood, coal, petrol or
kerosene, the chemical energy stored in them gets released and used for
various purposes.
5. EARTH: Earth’s innermost layers are extremely hot and contain geothermal
energy. It is used to generate electricity.
6. ATOMS: Atoms contain a lot of energy called as atomic energy or nuclear
energy which is used to generate electricity and producing atom bombs.
