Workers Workers
o SEW: These are the people working in their own business or profession.
They earn profit as a reward for their service.
o WEW:These are the people hired by others, and are paid wages/salaries
as a reward for their services.
o CW:These are the daily wagers, not on permanent rolls of employer, and
not entitled to social security benefits, like provident fund, gratuity or
pension.
o RW:These are on permanent pay rolls of their employers and are entitled
to all social security benefits including pension, gratuity and provident
fund.
Casualisation of workforce: Refers to a situation when the % of
casually hired workers in the total workforce tends to rise over time.
Changing Structure of employment:

Distribution of workers in category of employment
Informalisation of WF: Refers to the process whereby the proportion
of informal workers to total WF increases. Workers move from self
employed- regular salaried employment to informal employment.
