                       (a)Carbonates:

                       energy.

                     Thermal stability of carbonates increases down the


                       group.


                       (b)Sulphates:


                     Sulphates of alkaline earth metals are all white solids


                       and stable to heat.

                     BeSO and MgSO  are readily soluble in water
