24.3 Pollution

Learning objective-The students will learn about air and water pollution.

Note:

 When harmful substances are added to the environment and then change it in a bad
way, it is called pollution.

 Every day we pour harmful substances such as gases, chemicals and garbage, into our
environment.

 There are three major kind of pollution which happens because of human activities.
 Air pollution Water pollution Land pollution

 We need pure air and water and land surface to have healthy and safe life.
 But they become polluted in different ways.

 Air becomes polluted or dirty because of the harmful gases and smokes coming out of
the factories and vehicles.

 Forest fire, smoke from the volcanoes pollutes the air.

 Water becomes polluted by different human activities like throwing waste
and garbage in the water, bathing animals in river and ponds and throwing

waste water from the factories into the river water.

 Land becomes polluted because of throwing of garbage here and there,
which makes our surrounding unclean and unhealthy.

 There is another kind of pollution that happens because of the loud sound

coming from vehicles or because of human action.
 This kind of pollution is known as sound pollution.

Learning outcome- The students can tell about air and water pollution.
