21.3- DIFFERENT TYPES OF BIRDS

        Learning objective-students will learn about different types of birds.

        Note-


              Birds are the only animals that have feathers. They have very light bodies
              . They have 2 legs which are used by them to hop and walk. .
               They also have wings which help them to fly.

              Birds have beaks to eat their food. The shape and size of the beak depends on the
               food habit birds.

              Some birds eat grains nuts and insects so they have short and tough beak whereas
               birds those who eat small animals like rats, frogs and worms have long and pointed
               beak.

              Most live on trees .The home built by birds is called nest. Nest is alsoused by birds
               to lay eggs from which baby birds hatch out.






































              Most birds can fly. But there are some birds who cannot fly but they have long legs

               which help them to run fast. For e.g . ostrich, kiwi, emu and penguin.
              These birds are also called as flightless birds. Some birds can also swim in water.
               For e.g. – swan and duck.
