20.1 HABITAT OF ANIMALS
Learning objective:-students will learn about different habitats of animals.
NOTE-
Animals are found everywhere. Some animals are found on land for
e.g.- lion, elephant dog, and horse. Some animals are found trees for
example monkey,squirrel etc and some are found on water for
example, fish,octopus, dolphinetc.Some animals are found on both
land and water.
Different animals are found in different places. The place where an
animal lives and grows comfortably is called its habitats. According to
animals habitat animals can be divided into 4 groups. They are
1) Land animals or Terrestrial animals
2) Arboreal animals
3) Water animals or Aquatic animals
4) Amphibians
Land animals- Animals those who live on land are called land animals.
Lion, tiger, elephant, dog, bear, horse are some of the examples of land
animals. Body part of land animals are developed in such way which
help them to live on land. They breathe through lungs. Land animals
are also called as terrestrial animals.
Arboreal animals:-Animals those who live on trees are called terrestrial
animals.E.g.- monkeys and squirrels
Water animals:-Animals those who live on water are called water
animals. These animals breathe air or oxygen present in water through
specialized organs called gills directly through their skin. Water animals
are also called aquatic animals. Example- fish, shark, octopus, jellyfish
etc.
Amphibians: - Animals that live both on land and in water are called
Amphibians. For e.g. - crocodile, frog, snake turtle etc.
Learning outcome-Children are now able to speak different habitat of
animals.
