16.2 SHADOWS AT DIFFERENT TIMES OF A DAY
Learning Objective- Students will learn that shadows are of different
size at different time of the day.
Note:
At different times of the day our shadow will be different because of the
position of the Sun.
In the morning and evening our shadow will be tall where as in the noon
shadow will be small.
In the morning and evening the sun rays are slanting so the shadow is
long.
In the noon the Sun is above our head so our shadows are short.
The size of the shadow depends on the position of the object from the
source of light.
In ancient time when there was no clock, people used the direction of the
shadow of a pole to tell the time of the day. It was called a sundial.
Learning outcome- Students can tell about the formation and size of
shadows during different times of the day.
