Learning objective/Aim –The child will be able to know about the solar
system and the almighty Sun.
The Solar system consists of The Sun and everything that
moves around it.
The Sun is in the centre of the solar system. It is known as the
head of the solar family.
Solar system is always in motion. Eight known planets and
their moons, along with comets, asteroids, and other space
objects orbit the Sun.
The Sun
The Sun is a massive ball of burning gas called a star.
It looks big because it is closer to the earth compared to
other stars.
It gives heat and light. In absence of the sun, the earth would
always be a dark place.
The heat of the sun makes us sweat on a hot summer day.
The Sun warms the earth. It helps plants to grow, make food
and reproduce.
Life is impossible on earth without the sun.
We should not look directly at the Sun as its strong light
could damage our eyes.
Learning outcome-The childrenwill be able to describe the sun and
solar system.
