we can show repeated subtraction by counting backward in equal jumps.
Example- 10 ÷ 2
We first take a big jump to the bigger number ie 10. It means the total
number of objects that need to be distributed is 10.
After reaching the bigger number, we need to move back by taking equal
number of jumps.
Here in this example 2 is mentioned which means 2 is the number of
objects in each group .
We need to move back continuously by taking 2 steps each time untill
we reach 0.
Once we reach on 0 it means the total no of objects have been equally
distributed.
Now we need to count the number of jumps we took to reach 0, the
number of jumps taken to reach 0 is the answer.
Here we have taken 5 jumps which means we got 5 number of groups
after distributing 10 objects and in each group there are 2 objects.
10÷2=5
5 4 3 2 1
Learning Outcome: The students are able to show repeated subtraction on
number line.
