Lesson 20.4- Multiplication of 2-digit numbers (without carry- over)

Learning Objective-Student will be able to do the multiplication of 2 digit

numbers with single digit number ( without carryover )

        Explanation-

 When we have 2 digit numbers or larger numbers then repeated addition

becomes difficult to count. So, we use multiplication to calculate how many

               or to get the answer

             Ex: 12 × 2
 Step-1 Write the numbers under tens and ones

 Step-2 Multiply the digit at ones place by the digit in the ones place

               written below( multiplier).

 Step-3 Multiply the digit at tens place by the digit in the ones place

               written below(multiplier) .
 The answer is the product.

 12 is the multiplicand and 2 is the multiplier and 24 is the product.

                      T O
                      1 2

               × 2
                      2 4

So, first we are multiplying 2 with 2 in ones place and then 2 with 1 in tens

place. The answer is 24. We understand that 12 two times is 24.
