• Here in this example there are 3 groups of 4

apples.

Instead of writing 4+4+4= 12, we write

4×3=12

• We can also write it as

no of objects in each group × no of groups= total

number of objects

Here we have, 4 apples in each group and there

are 3 groups, so the total number of apples are

4×3=12.
