Ex- Lets write 86 in expanded form

When you write a number in expanded form

you take the amount in the tens place and add

the number in ones place.

Here the place value of 8 is 8 tens or 80 and

the place value of 6 is 6 ones or 6.

So in expanded form it is written as 80+6 or

8 tens + 6 ones
