Unit 20

                                             Phonics- /qu/ sound

Learning objective: Students will be able to learn to

identify and read words with / qu/ sound.

               Explanation:

 ‘q’ and ‘u’ letters make different sounds. But when we

put them together, they make a new sound /qu/.

 The letter ‘q’ is always followed by letter ‘u’.

 The /qu/ sound always occurs in the beginning

                       and middle of a word.

 /q/ and /u/ are always used together. Letter ‘q’ is

never used individually in any word.

For example – quack, quick, quiz, aquarium, squirrel

Learning outcome : Students can learn to identify and
read words with / qu/ sound.
