                                               Conjunction “and”

Learning objective: Students will be able to define

conjunction and use the conjunction “and” to join nouns,

               phrases and sentences.

               Explanation :

 Conjunction is a word that joins two words, phrases or

                       sentences.

 It makes a sentence shorter and easy to speak.

 Conjunction “and” joins two words and sentences.

 “and” is also used to join two nouns which are used in
                       pairs.

For example – bat and ball
                                                     bread and butter

                                                      cup and saucer

 The above words are always used together.

 If two sentences say the same thing like
Ex: I like bread. I like jam. (I like is common in both

sentences. We use ‘and’ to join both sentences.)
                       I like bread and jam.

Ex: Rita has a red skirt. Rita has a red blouse.

Rita has a red skirt and blouse.

Learning outcome: Students can join two sentences,

phrases or nouns with the help of conjunction “and”.
