Conjunction “and”
Learning objective: Students will be able to define
conjunction and use the conjunction “and” to join nouns,
phrases and sentences.
Explanation :
Conjunction is a word that joins two words, phrases or
sentences.
It makes a sentence shorter and easy to speak.
Conjunction “and” joins two words and sentences.
“and” is also used to join two nouns which are used in
pairs.
For example – bat and ball
bread and butter
cup and saucer
The above words are always used together.
If two sentences say the same thing like
Ex: I like bread. I like jam. (I like is common in both
sentences. We use ‘and’ to join both sentences.)
I like bread and jam.
Ex: Rita has a red skirt. Rita has a red blouse.
Rita has a red skirt and blouse.
Learning outcome: Students can join two sentences,
phrases or nouns with the help of conjunction “and”.
