                                            Phonics /th/ and /th/





               Learning objective : Students will be able to pronounce,

               read and write soft /th/ and hard /th/sound words.





               Explanation :


                   •  Soft /th/ is pronounced softly and occurs in the

                       beginning, in the middle and at the end of a word.

                   •  Words with soft /th/ in the beginning are –

                           thread, thunder, think, thigh

                   •  Words with soft /th/ in the middle are –

                           something, nothing, athlete, panther

                   •  Words with soft /th/ at the end are –


                          cloth, month, mouth, north
                   •  Hard /th/ is pronounced with little pressure on the


                       tongue and occurs in the beginning and in the middle
                       of a word.


                   •  Words with hard /th/ in the beginning are –
                          this, that, those, these, them, the


                   •  Words with hard /th/ in the middle are –

                          brother, feather, healthy, filthy, breathe, together


               Learning outcome : Students can pronounce, read and write


               soft /th/ and hard /th/ sound words.
