Find word meanings
Learning objective: Students will be able to find meanings of
words using a dictionary.
Explanation:
• There are about 6 lakhs words in English and all these
words are found in a dictionary.
• It is hard to find a particular word so easily out of so
many words with no time.
• The words are arranged in ABC… order.
• We follow a method of finding words in a dictionary.
• The head word or guide words on every page at the top
redirects us towards that particular word whose
meaning we need to find.
Learning outcome: Students can understand the
alphabetical order and find meanings of words by using a
dictionary.
