Contraction
Learning objective : Students will be able to write
contractions for the full forms.
Explanation :
A contraction is the short form used for some full
form words.
Contractions make the words easy to pronounce
and use in sentences.
Mostly all the helping verbs + not are converted
into contractions.
An apostrophe is the most important element in
a contraction and it replaces “o” in not.
For example : is not – isn’t
do not – don’t
was not – wasn’t
were not – weren’t
are not – aren’t
