Ch-Is Matter around us pure?
Topic- Types of solutions on the basis of their state, particle size
LESSON NOTE
Solutions: A solution is a homogeneous mixture of two or more non reacting
substances.
Binary solution: Solute + Solvent
Types of solutions on the basis of the quantity of solute present:
Unsaturated solution: These are the solutions which can dissolve more solute in it
without raising the temperature.
Saturated solution: These are the solutions which no more solute can be dissolved at
that temperature
Super saturated solution: These are the solutions which contain more amount of
solute dissolved in it than saturated solutions at that temperature. A super saturated
solution can be prepared by preparing a saturated solution at a higher temperature and
cooling it.
Effect of temperature on saturated solutions: On increasing the temperature the
solubility of the solutes increase hence the solvent can dissolve more solute in it,thus an
saturated solution can be converted into an unsaturated solution by increasing the
temperature
Types of solutions on the basis of quantity of solvent present:
Dilute solutions: These are the solutions which has a higher percentage of solvent
than that of solute.
Concentrated solutions: These are the solutions which contain a higher percentage of
solute than the solvent.
