               Chapter – Multiplication

               Sub topic: Word problems

Learning objectives: Students will learn to apply knowledge of multiplication to solve story sums.

               Example:

There are 9 packets of pencils, each containing 100 pencils. How many pencils are there in all?

               Solution:

               In 1 packet = 100 pencils 1 0 0

               In 9 packets = 100 x 9 =900 pencils × 9

                                                                                  = 9 0 0
Thus, there are 900 pencils in all
