               Sub topics: Word Problems

                   1. The sum of a number of two digits and the number obtained on interchanging the
digits is 99. If 5 is added to the number, then it is 4 less than 6 times the sum of
                       digits. Find the number.

                   2. If the length of a given rectangle is increased by 3 metres and breadth is reduced
                                                                                   2
by 4 m, then the area of the rectangle is reduced by 67 m . If we reduce the
length by1 m and increase the breadth by 4 metres then the area is increased by
                            2
89 m . Find the length and breadth of the rectangle.

                   3. A sailor goes 8 km downstream in 40 minutes and returns in 1 hour. Find the
speed of the sailor in still water and the speed of the current.

                   4. Students of a class are made to stand in rows. If one student is extra in a row,
there would be 2 rows less. If one student is less in a row, there would be 3 rows
more. Find the number of students in the class.

                   5. A man sold a chair and a table together for Rs 1520 there by making profit of
25% on chair and 10% on table. By selling them together for 1535 he would have
made a profit of 10% on the chair and 25% on the table. Find the cost price of
                       each.

               Answers:

                       1) 45 2. Length is 28 m and the breadth is 19 m 3) 10 km/hr and 2 km/hr
                       4) 60 5) cost of one chair is Rs 600 and the cost of one table is Rs 700
