Reflection of light:
The bouncing off and change in direction of light on striking a plane mirror is called
reflection of light.
How do we see an object?
When light is reflected from an object and enters our eyes, we see the object.
Image:
When light from an object falls on a plane mirror, it is reflected and image is formed
on the plane mirror.
Characteristics of image formed by plane mirror
l The image is virtual and erect.
l The size of the image will be same as the size of the object.
l The distance between the object and the mirror will be same as the distance
between the image and the mirror.
l Image always shows the colour of the object.
Comparisons between shadow and image:
Image Shadow
• Formed due to reflection of light • Formed due to the absence of
