               Sub topic 1- (Introduction)


               1- In a democracy, good governance aims to empower the citizens.
               2- This is done so that the citizens may actively participate in their country’s

               functioning, whether it is at the rural, regional, urban, state or national level.
               3- This is the broader concept of Participatory Democracy.

               4- Since cities are generally more complex and diverse than villages, urban
               governance system needs to be more complex too.

               5- The urban local bodies are the city versions of the panchayat system of rural
               areas.

               6- There are three kinds of urban local bodies: municipal corporations, municipal
               councils and city councils (nagar panchayat).
