Sub topic 1- Child Friendly Panchayat Initiative
Panchayat Samiti and Zila Parishad
Important Terms:
Campaigning- an organized planned activity to achieve something
such as during election
Cabinet- group of senior ministers responsible for controlling the
government policies.
Samiti- A committee, society or association
Zila- District
Parishad- Council
A Child-Friendly Panchayat System focuses on ensuring that the needs, rights,
and well-being of children are prioritized within local governance.
Child Participation:
Children’s club
Bal sabha
Child friendly panchayats concentrate on ensuring access to quality education,
healthcare, nutritious food, safe drinking water and protection from abuse and
exploitation. The children also show up their participation and their ideas and
opinions are also taken into account.
Panchayat Samiti and Zila Parishad:
Also known as the Block Panchayat, the Panchayat Samiti operates at the
intermediate level of the Panchayati Raj system. Implement development
programs related to Agriculture, Irrigation, Health, Education, Sanitation.
The Zila Parishad is the apex body of the Panchayati Raj system, working at the
district level. Handle issues related to Rural development, Health and sanitation,
Education, Social welfare
