CHAPTER 5- PRIME TIME
Lesson Notes
SUBTOPIC: Prime Factorisation
Prime Factorisation: When a number is expressed as a product of its
factors we say that the number has been factorised and when the
factors are prime number then the process is called prime factorisation
method.
Example- Prime factorisation of 36
The prime factorisation of 36 is 2×2×3×3.
When we find the prime factorisation of a number, we first write it as a
product of two factors. For example, 72 = 12 × 6. Then, we find the
prime factorisation of each of the factors. In the above example, 12 = 2 ×
2 × 3 and 6 = 2 × 3.
