by reading aloud and acting out a short scene.
Key Vocabulary:
Characters
Dialogue
Stage directions
Scene
Script
Materials Needed:
Whiteboard/markers
Sample short playscript
Name tags or role cards for characters
Short Activity:
“Act It Out!”
1. Divide the class into small groups of 3–4.
2. Give each group a very short playscript with 2–3 characters (example: a 1-page scene
where friends plan a picnic).
3. Each student takes a role and reads their part aloud, paying attention to stage
directions.
4. Groups perform their scenes for the class.
Wrap-Up Discussion:
Ask students: “What made reading a playscript different from a story?”
Reinforce key parts: no narrator, character names before dialogue, and stage directions.
