LN – Place Value and Face value

Learning objective: Students will be able to read, write and represent
                 numbers as wellas identifytheplacevalueandfacevalue ofadigitinanumber.

 PlaceValue: The value of where a digit is in the number.

Example: 1 In 436, 3 is in the tens' place, so its place value
                        is 3 tens or 30.

Example:2 In 895, 8 is in the ‘hundreds' place. So, its
                     place value is 8 hundredsor800.

 Face Value: The face value of the digit in a number is the digit
itself. It is theactual number. It does not depend on any position
                        or places. It remains thesame.

                    Example: 1 In253,the face value
                                                         5is5.
