LN- Looking at Synonyms
Learning objectives: Students will practice using synonyms in
their spoken and written language to build confidence and
fluency.
• Explanation of Synonyms:
Synonyms are words that have the same or very similar
meanings. They can be used in place of each other in a
sentence without changing the overall meaning of the
sentence.
• In Simple Terms:
Synonyms are words that mean the same thing. For
example, the words "happy" and "joyful" both mean feeling
good or pleased, so they are synonyms.
Examples of Synonyms
1. Big – Large, Huge, Gigantic
o The dog is big.
o The dog is huge.
2. Small – Tiny, Little, Mini
o The mouse is small.
o The mouse is tiny.
3. Happy – Joyful, Cheerful, Excited
o I feel happy today.
