SUB-TOPIC-Parts of a plant

LEARNING OBJECTIVE- To identify and name the different parts of a
plant and its functions.

DISCUSSION-

● The different parts of the plants are roots, stem, branches, leaves,

bud, flowers and fruits.
● Root- It grows under the soil and holds the plant firmly. It absorbs

water and nutrients from soil and sends it to the different parts of
the plant through the stem.
● Shoot- It grows above the soil and has all the other parts of the

plant.
● Stem- It carries water and nutrients to every part of a plant.

● Branches-It grows from the stem and holds the buds, flowers and
fruits of the plant.
● Leaves –It is the food factory of the plant and prepares food using

sunlight, water and chlorophyll.
● Flower-It is the colourful part of a plant and gradually it grows into

fruit.
● Fruit- It grows from a flower and we eat it, some fruits have one
seed and some have many seeds.

● Activity- Draw different parts of the plant in the drawing notebook.
