SUB-TOPIC-Plants

LEARNING OBJECTIVE-To know about plants, its characteristics, things
that the plants need to grow and stages of a plant.

DISCUSSION-

● We find different types of plants all around us.

● The seed holds the baby plant in it.
● Things plants need to grow- sunlight, air, soil and water.
● Stages of a plant-seed, seed with root, seedling with leaf and young

plant.
● Plants are of different shapes and sizes, some are big and some are

small.
● Trees-Very big plants with thick woody trunk are called trees. Ex-
neem, banyan, chikoo, gulmohar, mango tree etc.

● Shrubs-Medium size bushy plants are shrubs like roses, jasmine,
cotton etc.

● Herbs-Plants that are small and have soft green stems are called
herbs like tulsi, coriander, mint, grass etc.
● Climbers-Some plants have weak stems and cannot grow straight on

their own. They need support of walls, sticks and other plants to grow.
For example peas, money plants, grapes etc.

● Creepers-Plants that grow along the ground and have weak stems.
These plants bear big fruits. Ex- pumpkin, bottle gourd and melon.
