Conditional Present

HYPOTHETICAL ACTION

The conditional tense is like an imaginary tense. It doesn’t refer to
concrete events in the past , present of future . It refers to things that

could happen or may happen, but here is no guarantee as to the actual
outcome , as in “I would go out, if it were not raining”. The conditional

tense is used to refer to potential situations. The expression may contain
an element of doubt or uncertainty about the statement and it is also

used to indicate future in the past . (Eg . Hier ma mère m’a dit qu’elle
irait au marche ce soir.)

The word ‘’Si’’ is often used with the conditional tense to describe
uncertain events.(hypothetical action) Eg:
A. Si j’avais 20 ans encore, je voyagerais en Europe.

(If it was twenty , i would travel in Europe)

B. J’ acheterais une grande maison, si je gagnais le lotto.

(I would buy a big home, if i won the lottery)

present+present)

• Si tu peux, choisis les questions les plus
faciles !(Si+present +imperatif)

• Si tu m’invites, j’irai chez toi. (si+present+future)
