Personal Pronouns

While attempting question of pronouns keep in mind that there are five types

of pronouns in French: personal pronouns with direct/indirect
objects,disjunctive pronouns and conjunctive pronouns. There are three

types of questions regarding these pronouns which can be asked like:

1. Removal of underlined words.

2. Answering the questions by using suitable pronouns.
3. Fill in the blanks with suitable pronouns.

Points to remember

a) One has to be more careful when two or three words are underlined.
b) One must remember the position of the pronoun.

c) Pronouns are always placed before the verbs except in case of imperative
affirmative then they are placed after the verbs.

d) One must remember the following table of pronouns which will definitely
help you while using the pronoun.

General rules of placing the pronouns (COD, COI) in the sentences:

a) All the pronouns are placed before the verbs.

Eg. je le lirai.
Il leur écrit.

b) With the two verbs ,pronouns are always placed before the main verb (i.e
infinitive) Eg. Il veut la manger.

Je vais lui écrire.
