Overview and Introduction
Poverty is a multi-dimensional concept.
Usually the levels of income and consumption are used to define poverty.
In India, poverty can be defined as the lack of common things like food,
clothing, shelter, safe drinking water, medical care and education, which
determine quality of life.
In our daily life, we see poverty all around us.
They could be landless labourers in villages, people living in overcrowded
jhuggis in cities, daily wage workers or child workers in dhabas.
According to facts, in India every fourth person is poor.
Two typical cases of poverty:

2. Rural case-Story of Lakha Singh
