Module No. 27– A Slumber did my spirit seal
Background
"A slumber did my spirit seal" is a poem written by William
Wordsworth in 1798 and published in the 1800 edition of Lyrical Ballads.
It is usually included as one of his The Lucy poems, although it is the
only poem of the series not to mention her name. The poem is a mere
eight lines long two "stanzas" composition.
Introduction
It is a poem about the death of a loved one of the poet. The poet says
that his soul has been sealed by the deep sleep of a lovely child whom
he loved very much. But when he thinks that the child has become a
part and parcel of nature, this gives him some relief and peace
Objectives
To make students understand the reality of life and death.
