Subject – CHEMISTRY
Chapter – CHEMICAL EFFECTS OF ELECTRIC CURRENT
TOPIC – Good and Bad Conductors, Do Liquids Conduct Electricity?
LESSON NOTES
GOOD CONDUCTORS:
Good conductors are the materials which allow electricity to pass through them.
Good conductors offer less resistance to the flow of electric current.
The electrons of the good conductors move freely.
Good conductors can be used to make electric circuits.
E.g. copper, silver, aluminium, tap water, lemon juice, etc.
BAD CONDUCTORS:
Bad conductors are the materials which do not allow electricity to pass through them.
Bad conductors offer more resistance to the flow of electric current.
The electrons in bad conductors do not move freely.
Bad conductors cannot be used to make electric circuits.
E.g. rubber, plastic, wood, distilled water, alcohol, etc.
