                 RULING THE EMPIRE

Administering the huge Mauryan dynasty was difficult.
King was the supreme head assisted by various ministers.
Officials were appointed to collect taxes.
Spies were appointed to keep a watch on these officials.
The empire was divided into province.
Each province had a provincial capital and each had a royal prince or the governor.
Mauryas also controlled the roads and rivers.
                        Taxes and tributes were collected.
For example- north- west was important for blankets and south for gold.
