        Uses of Air

We know that air is very important and required by all living things.
We have already learnt that air is used for respiration, photosynthesis, burning, nutrition etc
here are some more uses of air.
            • Air helps in seed dispersal and pollination of flowers and helps the plants to survive.
            • Wind helps the windmills to rotate, which are used to draw water from the tube wells,
run flour mills and generate electricity.
            • Air acts as a medium of communication. You can hear each other’s voice only
because of the presence of air as a medium to travel.
            • Air helps the birds to fly.
            • It helps in the movement of aeroplanes, parachutes, gliders, sailboats etc.

            • Air is a habitat for many organisms like birds, bats and insects.
            • Air can be compressed easily. The compressed air is filled in tubes, balloons, tyres
               and pillows etc.
            • Oxygen, a constituent of air, is essential for burning of fuels and respiration.
            • Nitrogen, a constituent of air, is an important component of fertilisers.
            • Packets of chips are flushed with nitrogen to prevent their spoilage.
            • Air helps in separation of grains from husk by the method of winnowing.
            • Air filters some heat and prevents the harmful radiation of the sun.
            • Air plays an important role in the water cycle.
