                                    Subtopic- Conductors and Insulators

               Conductors:
A substance that allows electric current to pass through it is called a conductor or
               good conductor of electricity.

E.g. Metal such as copper, iron and aluminum are good conductor.
That is why the filament of a bulb is also made of metal.

               Insulator:
A substance that does not allow electric current to pass through it, is called a bad
               conductor or an insulator.

E.g. Non-metals such as nylon, glass and cotton are bad conductor.

               Note:

 Conductors and insulators have their own advantages.

 The wires used for carrying electricity are made of conducting materials. This
allows electricity to be transferred from one place to another.

 Plastic is an insulator which prevents us from getting electric shock.

 The bodies of electrical switches, sockets, plugs and handles of an electric
appliances are all made of insulating materials.
