Ch. – Electricity and Circuits
Subtopic- Electric cells
Types of electric cell:
Primary cell:
The chemical reaction that converts the chemical energy into electrical
energy is irreversible.
Primary cells cannot be charged again.
Primary cells cannot be reused once exhausted.
E.g. - dry cell
They are generally used in clocks, toys, flashlights and radio.
Secondary cell:
The chemical reaction that converts the chemical energy into electrical
energy is reversible.
Secondary cells can be charged again.
It can be reused.
They are generally used in trucks, cars and motorcycles.
Solar cell:
These cells use sunlight to generate electric current.
They are generally used in street lamps, solar cookers and heaters.
