CHAPTER-12 NATURAL DISASTER
                                              TOPIC: VOLCANIC ERUPTION

                                                     VOLCANOES

                          ACTIVE DORMANT EXTINCT

               What are Volcanoes?

 A volcano is a landform, a mountain, where molten rocks erupt through the surface of
                       the planet.
 Volcanoes are ruptures in the crust of our planet Earth that allow hot gases, molten lava
and some rock fragments to erupt by opening and exposing the magma inside
 The volcano mountain opens downwards to a pool of molten rocks underneath the
                       surface of the earth.

               How Do Volcanoes Erupt?

 It is so hot deep within the earth that some rocks slowly melt and turn into a thick
                       flowing matter known as magma.
 Since it is lighter than the solid rock around it, the magma rises and gets collected in
                       magma chambers.
