               Objective:


                   A. Underline the subordinate clause in each sentence.


                      1.      My mother is a nurse since she likes to help people. 2. After the storm there

                       were branches in the street. 3. I asked the question that no one else wanted to ask. 4.

                       Frank took the bus, which shows how democratic he is. 5. Sheila eats carrots when
                       she wants to have a snack. 6. If you want to be my friend, you will tell me the truth.



               B. Identify the dependent and independent clauses from the following sentences: Circle
               the Independent clause and underline dependent clause.

               1. I will go to Chicago after I have finished my work here.
               2. She was playing the piano when I entered her room.

               3. The patient had died before the doctor came.

               4. Have you ever been to Kashmir?
               5. That is what he does not seem to understand.

               6. They did say that they would pay up.
