Sub-topic 8.2: - PLACE VALUE CHART
Introduction:
Place value chart helps us to understand the value of each unit.
The place value chart changes according to the metric.
The following chart shows the value of the prefix used in the place value chart of metric
measurement.
The value of the units always depends upon the base unit.
The base unit for length is “Metre”. So, the value of unit for measuring length is as follows:
❖ Kilometre (km) = 1000 m
❖ Hectometre (hm) = 100 m
❖ Decametre (dam) = 10 m
❖ Metre (m) = 1 m
❖ Decimetre (dm) = 1/10 m
❖ Centimetre (cm) = 1/100 m
