LAYERS OF
THE EARTH
CRUST CORE
MANTLE
Notes:
The process of formation of Earth led to the formation of three
layers of the earth-
i)Crust- The outer most layer of the earth. The coolest layer, with
plants and animals. Mainly consists of rocks such as granite and
basalt.
ii)Mantle-It is just below the crust. It is a hot layer made
of rocks, minerals and metals, such as iron. Its temperature
increases with depth.
iii)Core- It is just below the mantle. It is divided into inner core and
outer core. Inner core is solid ball of iron and outer core is molten
iron. Inner core temperature is 4000 degree Celsius.
