Stanza wise explanation:
In the first stanza, the poet describes the beauty that exists in nature, not only
on the earth but also in the sky above. She literally goes on to say that clouds
that sail in the sky create a picture far more beautiful than the boats sailing in
the rivers or ships in the sea.
In the second stanza, she further points out that the man-made bridges
although pretty cannot be compared to the beautiful rainbow that connects the
earth to the sky.
Nature has its own beautiful creations and we should learn to appreciate them
and take inspiration from them.
Themeof the poem: A thing of beauty continues to inspire us. It never ceases to
exist in our heart. With the passage of time, the effect of the thing is like a ray
of hope amidst the miseries of the world. It refreshes our souls, and soothes our
nerves. It is like a retreat from the ugliness in the world. Everyday, such
beautiful things bind us to earth.
