THE INTERVIEW: MIND MAP
Interview is a common place in journalism.
In its highest form a source of truth and in practice an art.
It is a supremely serviceable medium of communication.
V.S.Naipaul feel people are wounded by interviews.
Lewis Carroll never consented to be interviewed.
Some celebs describe it as thumbprints on windpipe.
Almost everything of moment reaches us through one man
asking questions of another.
So the interviewer holds a position of unprecedented power
and influence.
PART 2 deals with the interview of Umberto Eco being
interviewed by Mukund Padmanavan.
Umberto is a professor of Semiotics in university of Bologna
Became famous worldwide in 1980 after hie novel The
Name of The Rose was published.
Explains that he writes novels only on Sundays
Make proper usage of Interstices(empty spaces).
Participates in academic conferences and not meetings of
pen clubs and writers.
He started writing novels at the age of 50.
Always narrates the success of his research and incorporates
stories like a Chinese wise man.
The name of the rose is a serious novel.
It is a detective yarn at one level but it also delves into
metaphysics, theology and medieval history.
The huge success of the novel does not have any particular
reason it is a mystery.
