Sub topics: Word Problems
1. The length of a string between a kite and a point on the ground is 90
meters. If the string makes an angle θ with the ground level such that
tan θ = 15/8. How high is the kite? Assume that there is no slack in
the string
2. A tower stands vertically on the ground. From a point on the ground,
20 m away from the foot of the tower, the angle of elevation of the top
the tower is 60°. What is the height of the tower?
3. On the same side of a tower, two objects are located. When observed
from the top of the tower, their angles of depression are 45° and 60°.
If the height of the tower is 150 m, find the distance between the
objects.
Answers-
1. 79.43 m
2. √ m
3. 63.4 m
