                    Carolyn Wells (1862-1942) was an American writer who was famous for books based on mystery.
                    Her famous works are at the sign of the Sphinx (1896), The Jingle book (1899), the story of Betty
                    (1899) etc.
                    How to Tell Wild Animals Poem- Introduction


                    In the poem, the poet has explained the characteristics of various wild animals in a very funny way.
                    She has used language in a way that it generates humour. She introduced the reader to various kinds
                    of wild animals like Asian lion, Bengal tiger, bear, etc explaining each of the animals in a very
                    humorous way.

                    Tawny beast: brownish-yellow
                    The lion is a tawny beast.
                    We must get scared of this tawny beast.

                    Roars: gives out long loud sound
                    Lion roars, cat mews and dog barks.

                    Discern: see
                    This man can’t discern a tiny thing without a magnifying glass.

                    Strolling: wandering, brisk walking
                    I saw these two strolling along the sea side.
                    Strolling along the sea side is very pleasant.

                    Novice: a beginner
                    These small monks are novice of religious rituals.
                    I am a novice in driving car.
